AFCON 2023 Qualifiers: Cameroon and Nigeria to face only 2 opponents each- This is why!

Cameroon and Nigeria will face just to opponents in the upcoming 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers in Groups A and C brecause one of their group opponents have been kicked out of the qualifiers.

Grouped with Kenya, Namibia and Burundi, the indomitable Lions of Cameroon will no longer face the harambee stars of Kenya because the latter has been banned from all International football competitions by FIFA due to government interference in the running of football activities

After missing out in AFCON Cameroon 2021, the harambee Stars will once more be absent at the upcoming 2023 African Cup of Nations cup scheduled for July 2023.

Nigeria’s 2023 afcon qualifying race was equally set to begin on June 4th as the Super Eagles were preparing to meet Sao Tome and Principe in group A alongside Sierra Leone and Guinea Bissau.

The super Eagles will now take on Mauritius instead of Sao Tome, an information confirmed on the official Twitter handle of the Super eagles

Soa tome and Principe were disqualified  from the AFCON race for fielding and ineligible player against Mauritius during their preliminary round fixture.

Two teams from each of the group will qualify for the 2023 afcon Edition to be hosted by Côte d’ivoire from the 12 groups of 4 teams.

Group H that harbours host Cote d’Ivoire, Zambia, Comoros and Lesotho will see a single country qualify apart from the host.
