Africa Crowns Cameroon Volleyball Federation as the Best on the Continent

PRAIA. The African Volleyball Confederation has given the Cameroon Volleyball Federation the best federation award in Africa, first prize for sporting results in a season. The award was announced at the CAVB congress, which met recently in Praia, the capital of Cape Verde, from October 3rd to 4th.

Bello Bourdanne, president of the Fecavolley and also president of CAVB Zone 4, received the award on behalf of the federation. It recognises a presence on all levels across the continent for an entire season and rewards the efforts of an entire community, from the players on the court to everyone else making their contribution.

The figures speak for themselves, and not only do they explain this choice, but they also highlight an outstanding achievement. Cameroon is the only African country to qualify for the volleyball World Cup with both its women’s and men’s teams. This alone makes the country stand out from the rest.

In addition, in every national team category, Cameroon’s teams have climbed onto an African podium during 2026. At U18 and U20 level, the Cameroonian girls finished third while the boys took second place. In Zone 4 of the CAVB, Cameroon won the title in both the women’s and the men’s competitions.

The clubs have also made their mark, with Cameroonian teams, women’s and men’s alike, placed in the top five in Africa, demonstrating an excellent skill level for both their national teams and those of their clubs.

So the CAVB had plenty to go on when awarding the prize. Results at every age group, titles in the zone, clubs among the continent’s best and two World Cup tickets in the same year are factors that form a solid argument, which has been rewarded by the confederation with its best prize.

For Fecavolley and for Bello Bourdanne in particular, the prize arrives as a sign that their efforts in the past season have been noticed far and wide.
