Bafoussam Braces for a Volleyball Weekend as Cameroon’s Best Descend on the West

The city of Bafoussam is set to become the beating heart of Cameroonian volleyball this weekend, as the fourth and final grouping of the national senior championship arrives in the West Region’s capital on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th March 2026. With seven women’s teams and nine men’s sides converging on the city, the stakes could hardly be higher — and the atmosphere promises to match.

The women’s competition takes place at the Lycée Technique Canada gymnasium, while the men’s matches will be played out at La Pelouse. All participating clubs have already made the journey to Bafoussam, and with this being the last grouping before the championship picture fully crystallises to give way for the playoffs, every point will be fought for with the kind of intensity that only end-of-season volleyball can produce.

In the women’s category, Mayo Kani Évolution have spent much of the season fighting for first position, though Litto team Volleyball remains the team to beat. The current champions arrive in Bafoussam with genuine momentum and the air of a side that knows exactly what it’s doing. But this is far from a one-horse race. FAP, the ever-resilient forces side; Anna Mèches Volleyball, and Fatgo’o that has never been easy to put away, will all be looking to disrupt the hierarchy and make a statement on the biggest stage of the domestic season.

The men’s tournament carries its own intrigue. Port Autonome de Douala, widely regarded as one of the most technically polished outfits in the country, will be among the frontrunners, alongside Litto Team, Cameroun Sport Volley Ball, and a FAP men’s side that tends to rise to occasions like this one. With nine teams in the mix and little margin for error, the draw alone guarantees fireworks.

What makes this weekend particularly significant is the setting itself. Bafoussam is carving out a reputation as one of Cameroon’s most welcoming volleyball destinations. The city hosted the national Cup qualifiers last year, and local enthusiasm for the sport continues to grow. For the federation, the choice of venue sends a clear message: volleyball in Cameroon is spreading its wings beyond the coastal cities.
