Bamboutos FC Left Out Of CAF CC List.

Published on

MTN Elite one runner-up Bamboutos of Mbouda have been omitted from the CAF Confederation Cup list of clubs ahead of the 2023/24 season.

Early this month, Bamboutos of Mbouda failed to acquire the CAF license after the commission judged that the club is still owing players – which is one of the criteria for acquiring a CAF License. The Commission also said the club has failed to meet up with other requirements.

In December 2020, CAF Executive Committee adopted a new regulatory framework for CAF club licensing system and Stadiums – which took effect in 2022 due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. So the omission of Bamboutos from the list of 52 engaged teams in the CAFCC ahead of next season is linked to the club’s failure to acquire the CAF license.

Bamboutos of Mbouda was preparing to represent the country in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup as the club is on the verge of getting Ghanaian coach Asare Bediako as a replacement for Yves Clement Arroga – but with the 52 clubs engaged in CAFCC released by the Confederation of African Football – Bamboutos might not take part in CAF’s second tier club competition should this be the final list.

Should this be the final list then, Cameroon will have just one representative at the inter-club club competitions.
