CAF Exco Endorse Posdponement Of AFCON 2023 Qualifiers.

Published on

The Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has approved the postponement of match day three and four of the 2023 Afcon qualifiers.

According to cafonline.com, the move by the Exco committee is to ensure that the five nations that have qualified for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar have adequate preparations ahead of the tournament in November- December.

Initially, days three and four are to take place in September but with the change in the calendar, the qualifying matches have been moved to March 20-28, 2023. While Match day five and six will now be played on June 4-12 next year.

Also, the fact that the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations, Cote D’ voice 2023 will no longer take place in June 2023, but has been moved to January 2024 gives reason for the revised decision.

The five nations that will represent Africa at the Qatar World Cup are Cameroon, Ghana, Senegal, Tunisia and Morocco.
