Cameroon Drawn Against Ghana, Nigeria and Tunisia as CAVB Women’s Championship Kicks Off in Nairobi

Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses will open their 2026 CAVB Women’s African Nations Volleyball Championship campaign against Ghana on Tuesday 25 August at 15h00, at the Kasarani Arena in Nairobi.

The draw, confirmed after Monday’s preliminary inquiry, placed Cameroon in Group C alongside Nigeria, Tunisia and Ghana. Group A has hosts Kenya with Mali and Zambia. Group B has Egypt, Uganda, Burkina Faso and Senegal. Group D has Rwanda, Algeria, DR Congo and Burundi. Fifteen nations in total, running from 23 August to 5 September.

Cameroon’s Squad for Nairobi

National coach Yende Tiadjoué Lavoisier named the following squad.

Setters: Emilienne Sandrine Kamando Afiab, Grâce Bikatal.

Liberos: Marie Tina Mbouombouo Y., Sandra Kenfack.

Attackers: Carine Blamdai, André Mimosette L. Moussol.

Middle blockers: Cécile Laure Nabyong, Sourea Baran A Koung, Linsday Larissa Wakap Djopkop.

Reception attackers: Berthrade S. Fl. Bikatal, Christiane Brandy Catcheu DJ., Dama Gracile Fosso NC., Joan Ahelya Tchombe Souche, Estelle Odile L. Adiana.

The opening ceremony takes place at 18h00 at the Kasarani Arena.

Group C looks favourable on paper, but Cameroon’s opener against Ghana matters. A win sets up the rest of the pool games against Nigeria and Tunisia on favourable terms, while a loss would leave little room for error. The tournament runs under the banner “One Continent, One Game, One Champion”.
