FIFA WC,Qatar 2022: Ghana Edge Past South Korea In A Five-Goal Thriller.

Published on

Ghana had an edge over South Korea in a dramatic five-goal thriller at the Education City Stadium.

The black Stars took the fight to their South Korean counterparts as they took a two goal lead through Mohammed Salisu and Ajax Mohammed Kudus to give Ghana the advantage at halftime.

The Ghanaians carried the same momentum in the second half, but the Asians had to punish them after Cho Gue-Sung’s brace silenced the Ghanaian noisy fans.

But Otto Addo’s charges found their way back in front as Southampton’s Mohammed Kudus completed his brace to give the 2010 quarterfinalist a 3-2 lead.

The victory ignites Ghana’s hopes of qualifying for the round of 16 since 2010 and will have to line up against Uruguay – a game considered by Africans and Ghanaians, as revenge following the handball of Louis Suarez that prevented Ghana from qualifying for the Semis 12 years ago.

The 3-2 win is arguably one of the most entertaining games in the year’s World Cup with a five-goal thriller – just after the Cameroon vs Serbia clash that ended in a six-goal thriller.

It should be noted that this is the first time since 1990 that two World cup games end in more than four goals. In 1990, West Germany defeated Former Yugoslavia 4-1, followed by the USA losing 1-5 to Czechoslovakia on June 10, 1990.
