Garoua Volleyball Sign Off in Style, but Eyes Are Already on What Comes Next
There was something quietly satisfying about the way Garoua Volleyball chose to end their campaign. No fanfare, no grand gestures — just a composed, determined performance that sent Dynamique de Douala packing with a 3-1 defeat (15-25, 25-20, 25-19, 27-25) on Sunday, wrapping up the fourth regroupment stage of Cameroon’s national men’s volleyball championship in Bafoussam.
It was their second win of the season, and for a side making its very first appearance at this level, it felt like a statement.
Garoua arrived at this championship without the convictions of more established clubs. Young, relatively unknown, and by their own admission, here to learn. Eight matches, two victories, and a whole education later, they head home without a playoff berth — but with something that might prove more valuable in the long run: belief.

Their coach, Malam Yves Honoré, was candid when he sat down to reflect on the season. “For a first participation, I think the assessment is more than promising,” he said. “In reality, we came here to learn, and as the matches went on, the players began to believe in themselves. They understood that they had to give everything, and that is precisely why, after eight games, we managed to win two. We are very happy with those two victories.”
“They have truly learned,” Malam continued, “because that was the objective: to learn at the highest level. They are still very young, and we dare to believe that for the Cup of Cameroon, we will return with a different mindset — a winning mindset. Only God knows what we are going to serve the other teams next year, because we will no longer come to learn. We will come to confirm what has already been built.”
For now, the 2026 edition of the national championship draws to a close, and the playoff picture will sharpen in the coming days.
