Guinness Super League: MD2 Guinnessico – AS Fortuna vs Lekie FF in The Duel of the “New” but “Old” Bones

AS Fortuna and Lekie FF lock horns today 18th january 2023 in what will be Match day 2 Guinessico of the Guinness Super League.

A duel of new comers with old bones as AS fortuna is in its debut in the GSL while Lekie is in its second season. The contrast lies in the squads as both teams posses experienced and renouned players of the Guinness Super League. These two teams who have tasted victory on MD1 are so ambitious that they want to challenge the BIG 4 of Cameroon’s Women Top flight (composed of AWA, Louves, Amazones FAP and Eclaire FF of Sa’a.)

AS fortuna is in top form and goalkeeper MARINA NGO ESSE celebrated her birthday yesterday creating a joyful atmosphere and good team spirit during their last training session. Focus will be on Claudia Foe who scored the earliest goal of the season against Ngadeu FF (3rd minute) and was equally the forward who got the opener against Lekie FF in their preseason friendly. Catherine Mbengono is equally expected to spice up the attack line with her international experience.

Questions have been rising since the preseason if Lekie FF will become the new “AWA FC”. The demolishing(4-2) of Eclair FF on Match day 1 proved that the goal making machine transposed from AWA to Lekie (Brenda Tabe, Farida Maicha, Tantoh Melvis, and others) still have steam and are capable of sweeping all what comes their way. Raissa Nnanga who shouldered Canon of yaounde last season has found comfort at Lekie after Brenda Tabe and her got a brace on match day one. She will once more have to be efficient in this game.

Nevertheless, Lekie FF will be without goalkeeper Marthe Ongmahan, defender Michèle Moumazin and forwards Brenda Tabe and Marie Divine Ngah Manga all called up for national duty.

Lawrence Nkede’s prediction : As Fortuna 1-3 Lekie FF . Lekie FF have a better attack line and seem a great threat to Fortuna’s defenders who don’t have the resources to stop lekie. More so, Fortuna will be resting ona « false sense of confidence » after their big win over underdogs Ngadeu FF.
