Orange Cameroon To Sponsor The Mt Cameroon Race For Two Years.

Orange Cameroon has signed a two-year deal with the Cameroon Athletic Federation – that will see the Telecommunication Company sponsor the Mount Cameroon Race of Hope for two years.

The announcement was made on Wednesday by the President of the Cameroon Athletic Federation – Emmanuel Motomby Mbome – during a press conference held at the Buea Mountain Hotel.

The deal confirmed Orange Cameroon as the main sponsor of the Race of Hope – which goes into effect in the 50th edition of the historic marathon race.

The Athletics Federation president thanked Orange Cameroon for their initiative to sponsor the Race and called on stakeholders to work for the success of the Race.

The President also highlighted the fact that there are talks about a possible increase in the prize money next year.

Meanwhile, the Project Director of Orange Cameroon, Gisela Muse Lum – said the Telecommunication Company hopes to add more colour, and fanfare, and animate the beautiful culture of the Race.

Orange Cameroon also hopes to dedicate a team of not less than 50 persons, caravans and local artists – making sure that animations are interactive with lots of prizes to win.

This year’s race will witness the popular Walk and Miss Mount Cameroon Race as one of the major innovations this year.

Close to 600 athletes  will participate in this year’s race – with some 58 foreign athletes from Ethiopia, the USA, Equatorial Guinea, Chad, Kenya, Djibouti, Central African Republic, Morocco and Tunisia have shown interest in participating in the race. The final list of athletes will be published by February 15.
