Published on

Fako United recorded the first-ever win in the Buea Town Derby, as they beat Prisons FC of Buea 2-0 at the Molyko Omnisports Stadium on Friday.

Joseph Mokete and Joe Etongo scored the two goals for the Njoku Boys as they move to the second spot in Pool C with 14 points in eight games.

Lionel Ewane of Prisons FC missed two penalties in two minutes as his side failed to equalize the one-goal deficit midway through the second half.

The Molyko Omnisports Stadium was at the centre of South West Regional League football again, as it hosted the second-ever Buea Town Derby.

Fako United are unbeaten in the league since they lost to ISOSHA on Matchday three, while Prisons FC are unbeaten in the League this season.

The quest for points and honour was at stake for both teams – having seen them share the spoils in the reverse fixture – the pressure was on for both teams, as Prisons FC was just three points behind Fako United in Pool C.

Fako United opened the scoring in the 28th minute – as Joseph Mukete scored his seventh goal of the season. The forward will then assist Joe Etongo who looped the ball over the Prison FC keeper to give Fako United a two-goal lead.

The win for the Njoku Boys puts them in the second spot in Pool C with 14 points in eight games and six points behind leaders ISOSHA who they play next in the league.

Prisons stay in the fifth spot with eight points in seven matches.

The second game between Istanbul FA and Ajax FC of Likumba didn’t take place after the latter failed to show up.
