U20 UNIFFAC : Djawal On Target As Congo & Cameroon Share The Spoils.
- Kaiba Djawal has now scored for the senior men’s national team, the U23s, the CHAN selection and the U20 Lions selection.
Cameroon’s Under 20 lions have begun their title defence with a 1-1 draw with the host nation Congo in their opening match of the U20 UNIFFAC tournament, at the Massamba Stadium in Brazzaville.
Coton Sports’ Djawal Kaiba scored from the penalty spot to give Cameroon the lead but was cancelled by Jacques Ndecket of Congo.
The boys of coach Yvan Kenmore began the title defence on a positive note as they created some chances to take the lead.
In the 26th minute, Cameroon was awarded a penalty and Coton Sport’s Djawal Kaiba confidently converted the spot kick to put Cameroon in front.
The host nation didn’t go to sleep as Jacques Ndecket scored the equalizing goal to level the scores at 1-1.
Both teams had chances to take all three but couldn’t capitalise on their chances as the game ended 1-1.
The next stop for Cameroon U20 lions is against the Democratic Republic of Congo on December 11 – and will conclude matters on December 14 against the Central African Republic.
It should be noted that the top two teams will qualify for the U20 AFCON to take place in Egypt in February next year.
