UMS Of Loum Quits Elite One Citing Financial Reasons.

Cameroon’s top flight side UMS of Loum has announced they will not take part in the second phase of the 2022/23 season for financial reasons.

This was announced in a Press Release by the club on Friday as players and staff of the club were informed about the decision.

“This is to draw to the attention of players and staff that due to Fecafoot’s Unilateral increase in the club’s financial obligations to its players and failure to pay subversion for 2021/2022 & 2022/23 seasons has created crisis in our club, we hereby declare general forfeiture”, the club said in a statement.

Before the start of the current campaign, the Football Federation promised clubs 48 million FRS CFA as subvention for elite one clubs – but according to the club’s Secretary General – Joseph Tchungno – the club has received just 11 million of the initial 48 million frs CFA promised by the Federation.

This decision by the club has halted their quest for a third league title – following an impressive performance during the first phase led by experienced coach Emmanuel Ndoumbe Bosso.

The club currently occupy the third position in pool A with 17 points – five wins, two draws and three defeats. Their matchday 11 clash this weekend against Stade Renard is will not take place as per the consequence of the decision.

The club was created in 2011 and gained promotion to elite one in 2014 – winning the league in 2016 and 2019 in the d Cup of Cameroon in 2015.
