WAFCON 2022: Christine Manie Selected To Be Part Of CAF TV Commentaries & Analysis.

Former Indomitable Lionesses captain, Christine Manie will be among the celebrated former female footballers selected to be part of the CAF Commentary and Analysis line-up in Morocco for the TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations from July 2 to July 23, 2022.

The former Canon Yaounde defender will join the lights of former Banyana Banyana international and captain Amanda Dlamini, the Former Super Falcons goalkeeper Rachael Ayegba, and former Tunisia International Haifa Guedri.

This will be the first time that an analysis team is put in place by CAF ahead of the WAFCON and is also part of CAF’s objective to enhance the quality of TV products for the viewer, in keeping with the growing global structure of African Women’s football.

“The viewer experience is our priority, we want women’s football in Africa to be a globally competitive television product. We are excited to welcome these stars who will be part of the CAF family. Improving Television is one of our top priorities right now. Women’s football in Africa is on the ascendance and I am really looking forward to this competition”, CAF Secretary-General Veron Mosengo-Omba said via the CAF website.

Christine Manie announced herself into the beautiful game – playing for legendary Canon Yaounde from 2005- 2009 before moving to FC Minsk in Belarus from 2009 to 2011, then moved to Romania where she had spells with CFF Olimpia Cluj and Resitu. The 38-year-old also played in France for Nancy and she is currently playing for FF Yzeure Allier Auverge in France.

The emblematic defender made over 63 appearances for Cameroon women’s football team scoring 10 goals for the Green-Red-Yellow jersey. She was also part of Cameroon’s WAFCON squads in 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018 – helping Cameroon to finish as runner-up in two editions. The former Canon of Yaounde defender was also part of Cameroon World cup squads in 2015 and 2019 as well as the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Also celebrated TV commentators like Gealle Moudio and Laetitia Dembo from Cameroon and DR Congo will be the host, alongside renowned Benjamin Graham (CAF, WAFU, FIFA tournaments) and Duene Dell’oca (Olympics)

The tournament kicks off on Saturday, July 2, 2022, when the host Morocco takes on Burkina Faso at the Prince Moulay Abdelah Sports Complex in Rabat.
