Former Chelsea Manager, Jose Mourinho wants FIFA to prevent African players from representing other countries other than their country of origin.
Over the years, most African players have changed nationality to play for other countries – thereby helping these countries, win the World Cup and other trophies.
However the two-time champions league winning manager believes that stopping these players from representing other countries, will help Africa to start winning the world cup.
“Fifa should ban African players from playing for other countries except for their African countries of origin. This will make Africa highly competitive and be ready to win any big tournament like the World Cup”.
The Special One who has won numerous trophies in his career as a manager – have always hailed African players for playing a key role in his career – and thinks Africa has the talents to win any tournament.
” I want the World to see that Africa is equal with everyone, Africans are not behind with talent. They have the talent to win any tournament, except that most of their best players are scattered around the world playing for other countries instead of their homelands”.
“I know I won’t be popular for making this statement, but Fifa should make things fair by refusing to let players represent other countries, this will make the Fifa tournaments even more competitive – not one-sided”.
Mourinho is one of the rare coaches in World football who have used numerous African players like Samuel Eto’o, Didier Drogba, Michael Essien, Mikel Obi and others.
