The Court of Arbitration for Sports has maintained FIFA’s decision to fine the Cameroon Football Federation € 1.2 million CFA frs for terminating the contract of former indomitable Lions head coach Antonio Conceicao.
In May last year, FIFA fined Fecafoot €1.2 Million as damages for the unlawful termination of the contract of Antonio Conceicao. The Football Federation was given 45 days to appeal the decision – which they did at the Court of Arbitration for Sports.
According to kick442.com, CAS stated on May 8, informing their Cameroonian client that they are maintaining the initial decision from the FIFA player’s statute Commission.
“The Court of Arbitration for Sports has dismissed the request for provisional measures filed by Fecafoot who sought an order from CAS to have a €1.2 Million lifted”, CAS said in a statement.
Fecafoot also reacted to the decision through its Secretary General Blaise Djounang in a statement on Thursday.
” The Cameroon Football Federation announce to the public that given its case against ex-indomitable coach Antonio Conceicao Day Silva Oliviera. CAS has opted to maintain the FIFA player’s statute despite the pertinent points raised in defence. We reserve the right to appeal at the Supreme Federal Court in Switzerland”, Fecafoot’s statement reads.
It should be noted that, former coaches Clarence Seedorf and Kluivert were compensated hugely for breaching their contracts while Hugo Broos also received over 100 million frs CFA when he was sacked as coach of the Indomitable Lions.
