In a significant meeting that heralds a promising future for volleyball in Cameroon, Bello Bourdane, President of Cameroon’s Volleyball Federation (FECAVOLLEY) and of Zone 4 of the African Volleyball Confederation, secured remarkable commitments from Cyrus Ngo’o, General Manager of the Douala Port Authority (PAD) aimed at enhancing the sport’s development.
The exciting news? The Douala Port Authority is fully committed to volleyball, revealing plans to construct a modern gymnasium, establish a training centre, and provide professional contracts to players. They are also enhancing player benefits and planning to introduce a women’s team, marking a significant advancement for gender equality in Cameroonian sports.
“As a former player of the Douala Port Authority volleyball team from 1994 to 1998, I understand just how crucial their support is for Cameroonian volleyball,” Bourdane remarked during the meeting. The Port’s volleyball team has been a dominant force in Africa, accumulating national titles and international accolades.
The encounter commenced with Bourdane conveying warm regards from the President of the African Volleyball Confederation, who commended Port’s continued support for African volleyball. She expressed her hopes for Port’s team to excel at the upcoming African Club Championships in Libya.

Looking forward to the 2024- 2028 Olympics, Cameroon’s volleyball federation has set ambitious goals. “We aim to make Cameroon a prominent name on the international stage,” Bourdane stated, detailing plans to enhance club performance and youth development.
One of the most encouraging announcements was Port’s pledge to assist athletes in their transition after sports careers. The General manager assured that deserving athletes who have shown loyalty to the organization would be integrated into the Port’s workforce.
The meeting concluded with a trophy presentation ceremony, where the Douala Port Authority Volleyball Club proudly displayed their achievements to management, followed by a family photo session.
