Professor Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, Cameroon’s sports minister expressed satisfaction and confirmed Cameroon’s readiness to organise the upcoming U20 Volleyball African Nations Championship as he spoke to local reporters after watching the 2025 Cameroon Volleyball Cup finals.
“I feel pure joy and great pleasure,” the minister said with a smile. “Joy from watching such a good show tonight. And the pleasure from seeing an event organised by our national volleyball federation.”
The finals showcased two impressive matches between teams full of promising young talent. What caught everyone’s attention was the performance of Litto team in the women’s category. Their display comes at the perfect time, as Cameroon prepares for something much bigger.

The Minister confirmed exciting news that had been circulating in sports circles. President Paul Biya has approved Cameroon to host the Africa U20 Women’s Volleyball Championships in just a few weeks. This represents a huge honour for the country and its volleyball community.
“This brings great honour to our country,” Professor Mouelle Kombi explained. He praised Bello Bourdane, president of the Cameroon Volleyball Federation, for his steady leadership. Despite facing some challenges, Bourdane has kept the federation moving forward with what the minister called “constructive energy and republican resilience”.
The minister emphasised how well the national federation works with international bodies. The Cameroon Volleyball Federation maintains good relationships with both the African Volleyball Confederation and the International Volleyball Federation. This cooperation, combined with government support through the Ministry of Sports, creates the right oxygen for success.
“The Ministry of Sports and Physical Education fully supports these activities,” the Minister stated firmly. He made it clear that volleyball will not be allowed to fall into troubles that could prevent athletes from reaching their goals. The government expects Cameroonian athletes to aim for the performance and excellence standards set by the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr Paul Biya.
What impressed the Minister most about the cup finals was the talent on display. The women’s final especially showed the depth of skill available in Cameroon volleyball. He believes this talent pool, combined with proper training, can build a strong national team.
The Minister also acknowledged the presence of a Brazilian coach and his assistant at the event. Their expertise, along with upcoming training camps, will help prepare players for the continental championship. He sees this as a chance to put together a team that can make Cameroon proud.

“We can build a team with a winning spirit,” Professor Mouelle Kombi said with confidence. “A team that will carry Cameroon’s colours high when we host the next Africa championships in our country.”
The path from domestic cup success to continental hosting duties shows how Cameroon volleyball continues to grow. With government backing, international cooperation, and emerging talent, the stage is set for what could be a memorable championship on home soil.
