Cameroon Volleyball Mourns the Loss of Guy-Roger Nanga, a Man Who Gave Everything to the Game

The Cameroon Volleyball Federation (FECAVOLLEY) has announced the death of Guy-Roger Nanga, one of the most dedicated figures in the history of the sport in the country. He passed away on Sunday, 1st March 2026, in France, following an illness. He was a former international player, a national team coach, and a tireless advocate for youth development — a man whose fingerprints are all over Cameroonian volleyball, even if his name never quite made the headlines he deserved.

The federation broke the news in a formal communiqué signed from Yaoundé, describing his passing as “an immense loss for the great volleyball family.” It is hard to argue with that.

Nanga’s career was not the kind that gets commemorated with trophies alone. His legacy was quieter, and arguably more enduring — built over years of showing up, training young players, mentoring national squads, and caring deeply about a sport that does not always receive the attention it merits in a football-obsessed nation.

FECAVOLLEY President, the Executive Bureau, and the wider volleyball community have extended their sincere condolences to his family and loved ones. The federation expressed its full compassion and solidarity with all those who had the privilege of crossing his path.
