FECAVOLLEY hails athletes as the nation sweeps the Zone IV Championships
There was a distinctly celebratory atmosphere at the headquarters of the Cameroon Volleyball Federation (FECAVOLLEY) in Yaoundé’s Dragage district on Wednesday morning, as the nation’s volleyball heroes received the recognition they so richly deserved.
The senior national teams—both men’s and women’s, across indoor and beach volleyball—returned from Brazzaville having put on a masterclass at the inaugural CAVB Zone IV Championships, and FECAVOLLEY President Bello Bourdanne wasn’t about to let their achievements go unnoticed.
After receiving the trophies and medals from victorious athletes, President Bourdanne lauded his charges for overcoming considerable odds to deliver what can only be described as a clean sweep. The women’s indoor team claimed gold. So did the men. The women’s beach volleyball side followed suit with another triumph, whilst the men’s beach team reached the final, finishing as worthy runners-up.
Not bad for a fortnight’s work, particularly when you consider the journey they endured to get there.
“You have brought honour to Cameroon, despite the logistical difficulties and the long hours on the road,” Bourdanne told the assembled athletes and technical staff. “Your spirit of sacrifice commands admiration.”
The President didn’t mince his words when assessing Cameroon’s standing in regional volleyball. “At the end of this first edition of the Zone IV Nations Tournament, Cameroon has once again confirmed its position as a driving force in sub-regional volleyball,” he declared, delivering a message from the government through the Minister of Sports and Physical Education. “Our consistency, rigour, and the quality of our coaching make Cameroon a benchmark in the sub-region and a model of discipline and performance.”

The 2026 Senior African Championships loom large on the horizon, and the FECAVOLLEY chief made no secret of his ambitions. “Cameroon has the legitimate ambition of winning continental titles,” he stated, framing these Zone IV competitions as crucial preparation for the battles ahead.
The ceremony drew to a close with the handing of the national flag to the Fecavolley president and a family photo of all athletes to immortalise this moment in the annals of history.
