Mayo Kani and Litto Team Keep Their Grip as Bafoussam Regroupment Heats Up

The fourth regroupment of the 2025-2026 Cameroon Women’s National Volleyball Championship got off to a lively start in Bafoussam on Saturday, with Mayo Kani Evolution and Litto Team Volleyball confirming their status as the sides to beat. That said, the day threw up at least one story that nobody quite saw coming.

Mayo Kani’s path through the opening matches was anything but straightforward. They dispatched Dream Sport Academy comfortably enough, winning 3-0 with set scores of 25-21, 25-16 and 25-14, but their second outing against Anna Mèches Volleyball was a different matter entirely. The newly promoted side went 2-0 up and, for a moment, it genuinely looked as though one of the championship’s bigger upsets was in the making. Mayo Kani steadied themselves, clawed it back to 2-2, and eventually edged a nervy final set 15-13. They got the win, but Anna Mèches made them work every point of the way for it.

Litto Team, meanwhile, were in no mood for drama. They beat Fatgo’o Volleyball Club 3-1 and then did the same to Forces Armées et Police, posting a 3-1 result there as well. For a team that has long been considered the dominant force in Cameroonian women’s volleyball, it was a timely reminder that the title is very much theirs to defend.

The full results from Saturday read as follows:

Dream Sport Academy 0-3 Mayo Kani Evolution (21-25, 16-25, 14-25)

Anna Mèches Volleyball 1-3 Nyong et Kellé Volleyball (22-25, 25-18, 10-25, 22-25)

Fatgo’o Volleyball Club 1-3 Litto Team Volleyball (25-17, 20-25, 25-14, 25-17)

Forces Armées et Police 3-0 Dream Sport Academy (25-17, 25-15, 25-19)

Mayo Kani Evolution 3-2 Anna Mèches Volleyball (22-25, 22-25, 25-21, 25-22, 15-13)

Litto Team Volleyball 3-1 Forces Armées et Police (21-25, 25-21, 25-17, 25-15)

The real talking point of the day, though, has to be Anna Mèches Volleyball. They lost both their matches, yes, but the manner in which they competed tells a more interesting story. Taking Mayo Kani to five sets on their debut at this level is no small thing, and their performances suggest they are not here simply to make up the numbers. Every team in this regroupment will have noticed.

Attention now turns to Sunday, where Nyong et Kellé Volleyball have a genuine opportunity to put themselves in contention for a top-four finish and a place in the playoffs. They face Dream Sport Academy first, then Litto Team, who will be a far sterner test. Fatgo’o and Dream Sport Academy also meet again on the day.

Sunday’s fixtures:

Dream Sport Academy vs Nyong et Kellé Volleyball

Nyong et Kellé Volleyball vs Litto Team Volleyball

Fatgo’o Volleyball Club vs Dream Sport Academy

With a playoff spot still very much up for grabs, Sunday’s games in Bafoussam promise to be well worth watching.
