Four advanced fixtures in Yaoundé reshuffled the Women’s National Volleyball Championship standings
The Women’s National Volleyball Championship had a new leader. Mayo Kani Evolution (MKE), long lurking just a point behind Litto Team Volleyball, seized its moment with a commanding double-header that has emphatically redrawn the face of the competition.
Mayo Kani take charge — convincingly
They opened proceedings against Forces Armées et Police (FAP) in a match that stretched into five pulsating sets. FAP pushed them all the way — levelling at 2-2 after a spirited fightback — before Mayo Kani found another gear in the decisive fifth, edging it 15-10 to claim a hard-fought 3-2 victory.
They later concluded their day with a 3-0 victory (25-18, 25-22, and 26-24) over Nyong et Kelle Volleyball (NKV), — the last set particularly tight; a sign that NKV refused to fold without a fight. But Mayo Kani were simply too composed, too organised, and far too consistent to be denied. Two wins in one day. Five points banked!
A table turned on its head
Before Saturday’s fixtures, Litto Team Volleyball sat serenely at the summit with 17 points, having lost none of their six matches. That record remains intact — they were not in action — but the gap at the top has been flipped entirely. Mayo Kani, who entered the evening two points adrift, now lead the standings on 20 points, three clear of LTV. That is a swing of five points in a single evening, and it is the kind of momentum shift that can define a championship season.
FAP and NKV battle for mid-table pride
Lower down the table, there was no shortage of drama either. Forces Armées et Police picked up a vital win earlier in the day, edging out Fatgo’o Volleyball Club 3-2 (25-20, 19-25, 24-26, 25-19, 15-12) in a gruelling five-set affair. That victory moved FAP up to third place on 12 points, leapfrogging Anna Meche Volleyball, who were not involved on the day.
Meanwhile, Nyong et Kelle Volleyball picked themselves up after their earlier loss to Mayo Kani and closed out the evening’s programme with a 3-1 win over Fatgo’o, ( 25-22, 25-23, 21-25, 25-10). The win brought NKV up to 7 points and keeps their mid-table push alive, while Fatgo’o — who played twice and lost twice — remain rooted in sixth on 4 points.
