After securing elite football status for the first time in close to two decades, Victoria United became the first club to bring elite football in the South West Region after six years.
The team led by President Nkwain Valentine made the dream a reality as the team secured elite football following a 2-1 win over NGV football Academy from the West Region in the Semis of the 2022 National Interpools.
Their start to the 2022/23 elite two season was fair as the team picked up seven points in their first four games – with wins against Unisport, and Leopard of Douala. Although Pierre Cyril Bilong who has now joined Aigle Du Mongo took charge of the club in the first two games (1win and 1 defeat), coach Guy Kamguia took charge of the team in their third game against Racing Bafoussam.
The former Djiko gaffer had a good start to his era with four points from two games, but calamity showed its ugly face with the side losing four straight games in a roll – including the two anglophone derbies to Rangers and Foncha Street.
But the club management, the coaching staff and the players had to take responsibility for their poor run of form as the team occupied the 10th spot with just three points above the drop zone.
Going into a relegation battle against Ofta of Kribi in Niete, the team went into that game – having won just a point in three away games – but goals from Djacba, Ferdinand, and Jacques Praise Ebene ensured the first away win for the club.
This became the turning point of their season as victories followed with wins against Dynamo, Aigle and Stade Bertoua as they scored 11 goals and conceded two goals in those four games.
Results Of Homologation Committee
