The Indomitable Lions’ U20 volleyball team have arrived in Egypt as they prepare to compete in the African Nations Championship with a double objective : win the U20 Chan and qualify for the World Championship.

Cameroon’s promising young volleyballers, under the astute guidance of head coach Robert Samou, have been drawn into Pool B alongside Morocco, Kenya, and Rwanda in what promises to be a fiercely contested tournament.

The Lions will face Kenya in their opening encounter at the Hassan Mostafa Gymnasium, a fixture that coach Samou knows will set the tone for their entire campaign.

The draw, conducted by the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB), has produced an intriguing tournament structure with nine nations, divided into 2 pools, all vying for continental trophy and the three coveted places at the World Championships.

Pool A features hosts Egypt alongside Algeria, Zimbabwe, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Cameroon. While avoiding the hosts Egypt in the group stage could be seen as favourites. Cameroon is paired with Kenya, Morocco and Rwanda in Pool B.

Kenya, in particular, will provide a stern test of Cameroon’s credentials from the very first match.

The young Cameroonians understand the magnitude of their task, but if their recent training sessions are any indication, they’re more than ready for the challenge ahead.

The squad’s first training session on Egyptian soil at the Hassan Mostafa Gymnasium revealed a team boosting with confidence and tactical awareness. The players worked meticulously on their match strategies.

This tournament represents a golden opportunity for these young players to announce themselves on the global stage.

The Cameroon volleyball federation’s support has been evident throughout the team’s preparation, with officials ensuring the squad arrived in Egypt in optimal condition to compete at the highest level.
The championship begins this Saturday, and Cameroon will take on Kenya for a Pool B opener.
