Anna Mèches and Mayo Kani Star as Cameroon Women’s Volleyball Championship Returns to Yaoundé

The third grouping of the Cameroon Senior Women’s Volleyball Championship got off to a lively start in Yaoundé on Saturday, with six matches played and a few sharp statements made. While absenteeism cast a minor shadow over the day — Nyong et Kellé Volleyball failed to take the court for two of their scheduled fixtures — the teams that did show up delivered some compelling volleyball.

Anna Mèches Volleyball was arguably the standout side of the day. They dispatched Fatgo’o Volleyball in three tight sets before collecting the 3 sets through the forfeit of the absentee Nyong et Kellé side. Mayo Kani Évolution beat Dream Sports Academy convincingly before pulling off the day’s most significant upset—a clinical 3-0 demolition of Forces Armées et Police.

Litto Team Volleyball had the most dramatic outing of the day. After being gifted a walkover against Nyong et Kellé, they were pushed all the way to a fifth set by Forces Armées et Police before edging through 3-2 — a gritty result that will give both sides plenty to think about heading into Sunday.
