Cameroon Men’s Volleyball Championship: PAD, CSV and LTV Shine on Opening Day of Third Grouping

The third grouping of Cameroon’s Senior Men’s Volleyball Championship got underway in Yaoundé on Saturday, delivering a full slate of action that left little doubt about who the early frontrunners are. Six matches were played on the opening day, and the results painted a picture of a competition with clear contenders — and a few teams with serious questions to answer.

Cameroun Sport Volleyball (CSV) were arguably the standout side of the day, winning both their matches without dropping a single set. They first dispatched Garoua Volleyball (GVB) 3-0, before returning to the court to dismantle a previously unbeaten Dynamique de Douala (DYD) side by the same scoreline — and with some commanding numbers: 25-16, 25-11, 25-16.

Litto Team Volleyball (LTV) matched that perfect record, also claiming two straight-set victories. They opened the day by sweeping Dream Sport Academy (DSA) 3-0 before seeing off Forces Armées et Police (FAP) in three tight but controlled sets. LTV look organised, composed, and very much in the mix.

Port Autonome de Douala (PAD) also impressed, comfortably beating Garoua 3-0 in a match that never really threatened to go another way.

The only team to show a fighting spirit in defeat was Shekina Sports Academy (SSA), who pushed Dynamique de Douala all the way in a gripping four-set encounter before eventually going down 3-1.

Garoua, for their part, had a bruising Saturday — beaten twice and struggling to find their footing on the court. Not an easy task for the newcomers in the top flight.

The action continues on Sunday 1 March, with three matches scheduled: Garoua face Shekina, while Dream Sport Academy take on Dynamique de Douala, before a third encounter between DSA and Garoua. Sunday’s results could well begin to shape the standings more clearly — particularly for the teams looking to bounce back.
