Cameroon Volleyball Mourns the Loss of Henry Tamuo, a Pillar of Grassroots Development

North-West Volleyball League President and FECAVOLLEY Board Member Passes After Prolonged Illness

The Cameroonian volleyball community is in mourning following the death of Henry Tamuo, President of the North-West Regional Volleyball League and a key figure in the sport’s development. Tamuo passed away on July 15, 2025, at Bamenda Regional Hospital after battling a long illness.

The Cameroon Volleyball Federation (FECAVOLLEY) confirmed the news in a heartfelt press release, describing Tamuo as a man of “affability, discipline, and unwavering commitment” to the values of the Republic. His leadership extended beyond regional borders—most recently, he headed Cameroon’s delegation at the 2023 Women’s U17 African Nations Championship in Nigeria.

A Legacy of Grassroots Growth
Tamuo’s impact on volleyball in Cameroon was profound, particularly in the North-West Region, where he championed grassroots programmes and nurtured young talent. FECAVOLLEY praised his “strong dedication” to the sport, noting his role as both a strategist and a mentor.

“The Federation has lost a pillar,” the statement read. “His work laid the foundation for future generations.”

Tributes Pour In
While funeral arrangements remain pending, tributes have flooded social media from players, coaches, and officials. Many recalled Tamuo’s approachability and his knack for uniting teams under a shared vision.

FECAVOLLEY President Bello Bourdanne and the Executive Bureau extended condolences to Tamuo’s family, emphasising the “immense void” left by his passing.
