The Cameroon Football Federation has increased the minimum wage for elite players in the country ahead of the 2022/23 football season in Cameroon.
The decision was made by the Football Federation on Friday, September 2 2022, as a way to improve the professionalism of Cameroon football.
This increase in wages is for the players of the MTN Elite one and two championships and the Guinness Super League.
For the players of the elite one championship, they will receive a minimum of 200000 FRS CFA, more than the 100000 FRS CFA received the last term.
While for the elite two players, the minimum wage will be increased from 50000 to 75000 FRS CFA.
The players of the Guinness Super League( Women’s top flight) will witness an increase from 50000 FRS CFA to 100000 FRS CFA.
It should be noted that the salary can be increased by the clubs depending on the contractual terms of the player and the club, and also the fact that the clubs shouldn’t pay below the minimum amount.
Meanwhile, changes were also made to the issue of entrance fees.
The Entry fee for elite one clubs is 1,000,000 FRS CFA
Elite two clubs is 500,000 FRS CFA
While the Guinness Super League will be at 250,000 FRS CFA.
The present Bureau of the Football Federation has also called on the club presidents to provide proof of these payments.
The winner of the 2022/23 Elite one championship will receive 50 million frs for winning the league, plus another 50 million as preparation for the CAF Champions League.
Also, Elite one Clubs will receive 48 million FRS CFA as grants, and an additional 5 million for the creation of youth teams.
The 2022/23 Elite one football championship has been announced to kick off on October 15, 2022.
