SWRL: Best Stars, Options Sports & CUSA Validate Their Place At The Mini Inter Pools Rumble.

The rumble for a spot at the big eight is getting tense as the first phase of the South West Regional championship enters its final 180 minutes of football.

With 1080 minutes of football fiddled in the last 44 days –  three contenders have booked  their place in the class of the big eight – with five slots needed to complete the big eight.

The lights of Best Stars, Options Sports Academy and Catholic University SA have all booked their place in the regional playoffs, while Aljazeera, LIFCA, ISOSHA, Victoria United, Kumba City FC, Nkamanyi FI and Kumba Lakers will have to wait for another half-360 degree of football to determine their fate at the rumble.

Pool A

Standing in Pool A after 12 playing days

The drama looks almost done and dusted at both ends of the table with champions – Best Stars Academy of Limbe topping the pool with 28 points in 12 matches – recording nine wins, one draw and two defeats.

The newly-promoted side Aljazeera will need only a point in their next game to validate their place in the big eight. They have so far recorded 25 points in 12 games – with eight wins, two draws and two defeats.

The relegation battle is now done and dusted – with newly promoted side TERMSTA downgrading themselves back to the Divisional league with just two points in 12 games. They have the poorest run of form this season with 10 defeats and two draws.

Pool B

Standings after 12 playing days

This is one of two pools where the drama is far from over – as it could go down to the last day to get the top two teams that will qualify for the playoffs. Just three points separate the first and third spots with just two games to go. ISOSHA is the only club in the division yet to record a defeat  – with seven wins and five draws.

For the relegation battle, it is almost done as dusted as a draw for Mount Cameroon FC in their next game will validate EEMSA’s relegation to the Fako League.

Pool C

Standings after 12 playing days

This is the only Pool that is done and dusted at the summit as Catholic University SA and Options Sports Academy have secured the two available tickets to the playoffs with two games to go.

But the relegation battle could have some drama in the next 180 minutes of football as the bottom club the University of Buea on six points is just within three points from the seventh spot H.O Academy with just two games to go.

Pool D

Standings after 12 playing days

This is another pool with so many stakes just like Pool B. Five points separate top seed Kumba City FC and Kumba Lakers in the third spot – and just two points separate second and third. Kumba City will need at most four points from their next two games to qualify for the playoffs – while Nkamanyi FI and Kumba Lakers will have to win all their remaining two fixtures and hope that results elsewhere go their way.

No relegation battle in this group as Bau Manibok have been declared forfeiture.
