Cameroon International forward Eric Maxim Choupo Moting has agreed to extend his stay at Allianz Arena for another 12 months – which will see his contract expire on June 20, 2024.
The 33-year-old is enjoying the best-scoring campaign of his career as he is the top scorer of the club with 15 goals alongside Jamal Musiala.
This impressive performance of the season gives reason why the Bundesliga side is given the former PSG forward another contract extension.
Board member for sport Hasan Salihamidzic: “We’re very pleased that Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting will be staying with us for another year. Choupo is an artist on the ball and has performed really well in recent years. He helped us in the first half of this season to fill the gap we had at centre-forward. He’s done really well and backed up his performances in games this year. We’re glad to have him and be able to work with him until summer 2024.”
The former Stoke City forward express his delight after signing the new one year contract.
I‘m super happy to be staying longer and continuing to have lots of fun with the club. I feel very much at home here. My family also feel at home in Munich. That’s a very important point for me. I’m obviously pleased I can help the team so much. I get on really well with the guys, we work hard on our goals. The competition is big, but when you want to be among the best, that’s part of it. It’s the only way you can win lots of titles. And we’ve still got big plans. The whole package is right at FC Bayern. There’s no reason to change anything.”
Choupo Motings Stats of The Season
The 33-year-old is arguably one of the Bundesliga’s revelations this campaign – as he has netted 15 goals in a all competitions. These goals have come since the start of October – including seven in roll – no Bundesliga player right now has attained this milestone in that period.
He also made history for himself as he became the only player to score against all 18 Bundesliga clubs – after scoring against Union Berlin last weekend.
Choupo Moting is one goal short of breaking his Bundesliga record of 10 goals he scored for Maize in the 2011/12 and 2013/14 seasons.
His proficiency in front of goal has been impressive as he took just 27 shots to register his nine goals – making him to walk away with one goal after three shots.
Choupo Moting joined Bayern in October 2020 and has scored 33 goals in 82 appearances for the club – winning the Bundesliga and DFL super cup in 2021 and 2022 plus the FIFA Club World Cup.
