Istanbul Football Academy of Buea moves four points clear at the top of Pool A of the ongoing South West Regional Championship – following a monumental 1-0 win over Pool A rivals Njalla Quan Sports Academy at the Molyko Omnisports Stadium on Wednesday.
Ewa Mbome scored the lone goal of the game – which gave the boys of Eche Ebenezer all three points.
Kom Landry scored for NQSA – 15 minutes into the second half but was ruled out for offside.
The Molyko Omnisports Stadium played host to another top-of-the-table clash between two invincibles in the league. NQSA was coming into the clash with a four-game unbeaten run – while Istanbul had dropped just two points from a possible 15 points this season.
The first half looked favourable for the Bimbia boys but had to squander many goal-scoring opportunities in the first half.
NQSA continue to dominate possession in the second half – as they had glaring opportunities to take the lead. Ngome Ngassa squandered two chances that would have taken the Bimbia boys top of the Group.
Istanbul had their game plan as they were in search for a fifth win of the campaign. Robert Koneyi will then benefit from a poor NQSA defence as he played a brilliant pass to Ewa Mbome to give Istanbul the lead.
Coach Edwin Tette and his boys search for an equalizer but with a defence that has conceded just one goal this season – it was difficult for the Limbe base side to get a point as it ended 1-0 to Istanbul FA.
Meanwhile, Fako United recorded their third straight win of the campaign in the early kick-off.
