SWR Mini Interpools: NQSA & Istanbul Get First Semifinal Tickets.

  • A total of 504 goals were scored in 364 matches in the first phase of the South West Regional Championship with an average of 1.38 goals per game.
  • The City of Buea is hosting the Regional Playoffs for the first time in close to a decade.
  • For the first time in four years, Best Stars Academy of Limbe will not play the Mini Interpool final.
  • Istanbul Football Academy of Buea becomes the first Buea base side to get into the big four of the playoffs since Continental Football Academy in 2019.
  • Ngeme Ngassa of NQSA scored his eighth goal of the campaign, as he won the empire man of the Match, while Boris Woreku won the Man of the Match in the second game of the day.

The Molyko Omnisport Stadium was the centre of attraction as the Mini interpools returns to Buea after close to a decade. Two quarter-final matches were programmed at the Molyko Omnisports Stadium.

Njalla Quan SA 2-0 Best Stars

It proved to be a hotly contested derby between the two Academicians as it was going to be revenge for NQSA after suffering a 5-1 to last year’s finalist last term.

The Bimbia Boys took the lead in the second after an own goal from Best Stars defender Njie Billa Emmanuel, before Ngeme Ngassa scored his eighth goal of the campaign to give NQSA a 2-0 win.

Tiko United 1-2 Istanbul Football Academy

The last game of the day proved to be a game of physicality with Tiko United being the better side on paper, but Istanbul stun the 2009 Elite One champions as Kans Junior put the debutants in front.

Quick response for coach Kengo Raymond and his boys as 2021 top scorer Bache Manfred scored his seventh goal of the campaign to level scores.

Istanbul had their game plan as former Continental FA forward Robert Koneyi scored his fourth goal to regain Istanbul’s lead.

The defeat for Tiko United means they will have to wait for another season to play the Regional playoffs final since suffering relegation to the Regional championship in 2014.
