Manchester United have completed the £47.2M signing of Andre Onana from Inter Milan.
The initial deal was £43.8M and a possible £3.4M in add-ons, according to the BBC.
The former Ajax man signed a five-year deal with the Red Devils – with an option of a 12 months extension.
Andre Onana is set to join the rest of the Manchester United squad in their preseason in the United States as they prepare for the new season.
The Cameroon International, 27, will replace David De Gea who left the club in July after spending 13 seasons with the Manchester club.
Andre Onana has made a total of 104 clean sheets in 255 club appearances – winning the Dutch League three times and two KNVB Cups with Ajax. Last season, he made 41 appearances for Inter Milan – keeping 16 clean sheets including eight in the Uefa Champions League – a record by a goalkeeper in a single season.
Andre Onana expresses his delight after becoming only the second Cameroon Football player to play for the Red Devils after Eric Djemba Djemba who signed for the club in 2003.
“To join Manchester United is an incredible honour and I have worked all my life to get to this moment, overcoming many obstacles along the way. Walking out at Old Trafford to defend our goal and Contribute to the team will be another amazing experience. This is the start of a new journey for me, with new teammates and new ambitions to fight for”, Onana said in a Press Release by Manchester United.
” Manchester United has a long history of incredible goalkeepers, and I will now give everything to create my own legacy in the coming years. I am excited by the opportunity to work again with Erik Ten Hag, I know he is determined to deliver at this great club.
