Cameroon’s Volleyball Lions Fly Out to Tunis with One Goal on Their Minds

Cameroon’s national men’s volleyball team left Douala in the early hours of Friday, 11 September 2026, bound for Tunis. Their destination is the African Nations Championship, and by all accounts, this is a squad that boarded the plane with a real sense of purpose.

A Squad Built on Depth

Fecavolley released the final list ahead of departure, and it gives a good picture of how Mboulet plans to set his team up.

In the setter positions, Nsangou Lamine and Azebaze Gabin will run the offence. Behind them, the libero role falls to Kenfo Leonel and Fotso Fotso Ulrich, the two players tasked with shoring up the back row and keeping the defence tight.

The outside hitters, listed as reception attackers, are Bitouna Cédric, Badawé Elie, Abba Gambo and Mahamat Adji. It is a group with a decent spread of experience, and one that will need to fire if Cameroon are to trouble the stronger sides in Tunis.

At middle blocker, the Lions have called on Voukeng Arthur, Fabassou Papa Jackson, Tanga Mvilongo William and Djafna Kaimissina Abraham. Four names there gives Mboulet options in the middle, which matters over the course of a long tournament where fatigue and foul trouble can shift a lineup quickly.

Rounding out the squad in the opposite hitter role are Mbahilamen Stephane and Brahim Adam, both of whom will be expected to provide a scoring outlet on the right side of the court.

The Team Behind the Team

None of this works without the staff pulling everything together, and Cameroon have put together a fairly substantial technical unit for this campaign.

Ndaki Mboulet Jean Patrice leads as national coach, with Wilsogue Sogue Serge Stephan and Samou Kouamo Bangou Robert serving as his two assistant coaches. Dr Mvondo Onana Pierre Valery travels as team doctor, while Essomba Tobo Mbende Yvan Steve and Song Isaac Victoire Dieudonné round out the medical side as physiotherapists.

On the fitness front, Essian Mamiah Luc Lemuel Jovial takes charge as physical trainer, and Ndaki Mboulet Yves Marcel has been brought in as statistician, a role that has become increasingly important in modern volleyball, where matches are often decided by small tactical adjustments spotted in real time. Dr Matip Elias completes the group as team manager.
