Cameroon Crowns Its Finest: FECAFOOT and Guinness Celebrate Women’s Football Excellence on International Women’s Day

Joyful and colourful smiles on the faces of all ladies. That was precisely the atmosphere at the headquarters of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) on Sunday march 8th 2026, as the federation joined forces with Guinness Cameroun to honour the laureates of the Cameroonian Ballon d’Or, drawn from the Guinness Super League, in a celebration that doubled as a tribute to the country’s women.

The timing was no coincidence. Held on the occasion of International Women’s Day — its 41st edition — the event brought together the female staff of FECAFOOT, a gathering of media representatives, and, at the heart of it all, the women whose talent and dedication have been quietly elevating Cameroonian football for years.

Presiding over the ceremony in place of the federation president was Mme Céline Eko, First Vice-President of FECAFOOT, who used the occasion to acknowledge what has become an increasingly vital partnership. Her words carried genuine warmth as she credited the Société Anonyme des Boissons du Cameroun — through its Guinness Cameroun brand — with playing a decisive role in the growth of women’s football across the country.

Each laureate received both a trophy and a financial reward, with one million FCFA awarded to every winner — a sum that speaks to the seriousness with which this recognition is being taken. The crowning moment, however, belonged to the Ballon d’Or Lys Fraîche Tiwa, whose outstanding season earned her a prize of two million FCFA, a reward that felt entirely commensurate with the distinction of the award itself.

Among those honoured on the night were Best Referee Ntangti Innocentia, Best Assistant Referee Yeppe Prisca, and Best Goalkeeper Chantal Ngah .

The evening closed with a shared meal, a moment of collective joy that felt fitting for a day dedicated to celebrating women in all their dimensions
