The 2025 Men’s African Volleyball Club Championship in Misrata, Libya reached a critical juncture yesterday as group stage action concluded with Cameroonian clubs experiencing mixed fortunes on the continental stage.
PAD Shines While Fellow Cameroonian Clubs Struggle
Port Autonome De Douala (PAD) salvaged Cameroonian pride on the final day of group matches, securing a convincing 3-1 victory (25-19, 19-25, 25-20, 25-19) over Mauritius’ Rodrigues Oranges Club Sportif d’Amitiés. The win solidified PAD’s advancement to the knockout stages.
Cameroon Sports suffered a straight-sets defeat (25-17, 25-20, 25-20) to DR Congo’s Volleyball Club Espoir but still managed to qualify for the Round of 16. However, Litto Team’s championship journey ended after a heartbreaking five-set loss (25-18, 25-19, 18-25, 21-25, 15-7) to Kenya Ports Authority, failing to advance beyond the group stage.

The final day of group play featured several dominant performances:
- Libya’s Ittihad Club dismantled Kenya Prisons in straight sets (25-21, 25-20, 25-16)
- Morocco’s Faith Union Sport overpowered Club Castel of Algeria 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-13)
- Rwanda’s Kepler Volleyball Club edged Ethiopia’s Wolaita Dicha in a thriller, winning 3-0 with two extended sets (25-19, 30-28, 34-32)
- Kenya’s General Service Unit swept past Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly 3-0 (25-12, 25-11, 25-22)
- Tunisia’s Espérance Sportive de Tunis dominated DR Congo’s Volley Club Emmanuel 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-9)
Round of 16 Matchups Set
The championship now moves to its knockout phase with eight tantalising fixtures scheduled for April 26th. All matches will be held in Misurata across three venues: Misurata International Hall, Swehly Club Hall, and Ittihad Hall.
PAD faces a challenging test against Kenya’s KPA at 13:30 in the Misurata International Hall, while Cameroon Sports meets Egypt’s CAS at 13:30 in the Swehly Club Hall.
