The atmosphere at the Yaoundé multipurpose sports complex was electric this past Sunday, June 8, 2025, as volleyball enthusiasts flocked in for the thrilling finals of the Cameroon Cup. This event was the highlight of the national volleyball season, and the Litto Team emerged victorious, clinching titles in both the men’s and women’s competitions
Sports Minister Narcisse MOUELLE KOMBI was there to oversee the ceremony, alongside some notable faces from Cameroon’s sports world. Football legend Roger Milla showed up, as did former sports minister Adoum Garoua and Paulo de Tarso Milagres, the new coach of the national women’s volleyball team, with his assistant.
The women’s final kicked things off with a rematch from last season – Litto Team facing Mayo Kani once again. This time around, Litto Team’s women dominated the court and took home the championship with a 3-1 victory. The set scores were 25-19, 25-21, 15-25, and 25-16, giving them the national title.
The men’s match was the one everyone had been eagerly anticipating. Litto Team faced off against Port Autonome de Douala (PAD) in what turned out to be a thrilling showdown. Both teams gave it their all, but in the end, Litto Team emerged victorious with a solid 3-1 win. They took the sets 25-18, 26-24, lost one 21-25, then closed it out 25-19 to complete their historic double victory.
The volleyball wasn’t the only aspect of the event though. Popular artist TENOR set the crowd on their feet with an incredible performance that had everyone dancing. Dance groups filled the stands, and the INJSC brass band provided a much-needed energy that kept things going, bringing a fantastic mix of sports and culture to create an atmosphere like no other.
When everything settled down, individual accolades were awarded to players from the Litto Team as well. Ekani Carole was named MVP of the women’s tournament, and POKEM MBAKOP snagged the same title for the men’s competition. This double championship is a significant milestone for the Litto Team, wrapping up what has been an incredible volleyball season in Cameroon
