Cotonsport captain Marou souaibou has won this years maestro de l’anee award for the 2021-2022 season in Cameroon.
He secured a maximum number of votes beating the likes of Adolf Nembe of AS Fortunaand top scorer of the Cameroon MTN elite one football championship, Junior Mani who was second top scorer, vice champion Ramses Dongfack of Eding Sport of Lekie and Axel Njana of Astres of Douala.
The performances of the cotonsport captain did not go unnoticed as he won a series of individual and collective awards during the course of the just ended MTN Elite one football championship like the player of the month of April and the best player of the first round of the MTN Elite one championship awarded by the national syndicate for footballers (SYNAFOB) in mbouda.
Despite the disappointing outing of cotonsport of GAroua in this years group stage of the CAF confederations cup, the 21 year old native of Garoua scored one goal with 3 assists and 12 goals in the elite one championship. Marou Souaibou is part of the Cameroon football tam that is currently taking part in the Islamic games in Konya ( Turkey) where he scored in Cameroon’s 3-2 defeat to the host country Turkey.
The most Noticeable period in his career is when he scored 2 goals in the play-offs semi finals of this years MTN Elite one football championship, one of which is believed to go a long way to be contender for the FIFA goal of the year ( PUSKAS AWARD) after besting Astres of Douala Goalkeeper Mbayenasem Jordan from a 42 meters long drive. With the world cup fast approaching, Marou Souaibou is one of the few home based players that can break into Rigobert Song’s 25 man squad to defend the colors of the indomitable lions of Cameroon during the Qatar expedition.
