Minkoameyos and Phoenix Reign Supreme as Cameroon Veterans’ Cup Crowns Its 2025-26 Champions

The Veterans category of the Coupe du Cameroun de Volleyball brought its 2025-26 season to a close with two absorbing finals, crowning Minkoameyos in the men’s final and Phoenix in the women’s final.

In the men’s competition, many expected SCL to reassert their dominance. As reigning champions from 2025 – and double winners of the competition – they carried the expectations and the quiet confidence that comes with knowing how to win. Minkoameyos, however, had other plans entirely.

The two sides had already crossed paths during the elimination phase of this year’s competition, where the blue-and-white outfit from Minkoameyos had edged a 2-0 victory, planting a seed of doubt over the champions. That result, it turned out, was no fluke. Saturday confirmed it emphatically. Minkoameyos swept SCL aside 3 sets to 0, completing what had become an increasingly irresistible charge toward the title. The defending champions simply had no answer.

Over on the women’s side of the draw, the curtain-raiser between Phoenix and Étoiles Dorées promised plenty of intrigue on paper. Both teams had earned their place in the final, and the expectation was that Étoiles Dorées — with their experience and pedigree — would make things difficult for Phoenix.

Instead, it was Phoenix who turned the occasion into a statement. Étoiles Dorées never found their rhythm in this game, falling to Phoenix 3-0.

With both finals now settled, the National Veterans Commission brings down the curtain on what has been an eventful 2025-26 season, leaving the centre stage for the women and men’s finals this Sunday at the Yaounde multipurpose Sports Complex
