Nyong et Kelle Seals Second Victory as PAD Dominate in CAVB Zone IV club Championship wrap-up

The CAVB Zone IV Men’s and Women’s Club Championship continued on Wednesday with a full slate of matches that saw home advantage count at the Douala venue.
Nyong et Kelle Volleyball secured their second tournament victory in a hard-fought encounter against VC La Loi. The Congolese side opened brightly, claiming the first set 25-23, but their momentum evaporated in the second as the Cameroonian outfit surged back to level the match at 16-25.
The third set proved to be the pivotal moment of the contest. Both teams battled for control in what became a proper dogfight, but Nyong et Kelle’s women eventually overpowered their opponents 25-23 to edge ahead. The fourth set offered little resistance, with the home side cruising through 25-17 to seal a 3-1 victory.
VC La Loi will be desperate to register their first win when they meet the tournament’s favourite, Litto Team, today, Thursday, in what will be their final preliminary round fixture.

Men’s Competition Sees Dominant Displays

In the men’s competition, VC Espoir found themselves comprehensively outplayed by Port Autonome de Douala, who swept aside their opponents 3-0. PAD were ruthless throughout, taking the sets 25-20, 25-19, and a slightly contentious 25-17 in the third.
The evening match saw Service National of DR Congo cruise past Gabon’s ASSOM-GR with a straight-sets victory. While the Gabonese side showed fight in both the opening and closing sets, Service National’s greater experience told in the end. They took the match 25-23, 25-16, 25-23 to maintain their winning form.

Thursday’s Fixtures Promise Fireworks

Thursday’s schedule promises intrigue across the board. The day opens with VC La Loi facing Litto Team in the women’s category, before attention turns to what could be the standout match of the day: Port Autonome de Douala against Service National. Both sides come into the fixture on the back of convincing wins, setting up a genuine test of credentials.

The day will close with a clash between Litto Team and VC Espoir in the men’s competition. Both teams suffered defeats last time out and will be looking to bounce back and keep their tournament hopes alive.
