Yaoundé’s Lakeside Set to Host Youth Beach Volleyball Tournament Honouring Departing FIVB Beach Volleyball Expert

Cameroon’s young beach volleyball players from few volleyball academies are getting ready for a weekend on the sand at the Lac Municipal in Yaoundé, where a tournament has been organised partly to say thank you to a man who has spent the last six months shaping the sport at grassroots level.

The event is jointly organized by the Association des Académies et Centres de Formation de Volleyball du Cameroun (AACFVC) and COCABEACH, whose representative Mme Mekong has helped pull the tournament together. It runs under the watchful eye of the Cameroon Volleyball Federation, (FECAVOLLEY), along with FIVB beach volleyball expert Jaime Beltran Alfredo, whose contract in the country is now drawing to an end.

Organisers wanted the tournament to double as a send-off for Beltran Alfredo, who has spent half a year working directly with young players across Cameroon.

All youth categories are invited, girls and boys alike, and training centres from across the country are expected to send their squads down to the water’s edge. The action gets under way from 8am on Sunday 19 July 2026, with participation fees set at 5,000 FCFA per training centre.

This tournament will give the young athletes a proper stage to test themselves in beach volleyball, which has always been in the shadow of volleyball itself.
