There is a quiet revolution taking place in Cameroonian volleyball, and it has nothing to do with spikes or blocks. It is about numbers, patterns and the kind of insight that only proper statistical analysis can bring, and Fecavolley, the Cameroon Volleyball Federation, wants its coaches and technicians right at the heart of it.
The federation has reminded coaches, trainers and technical staff that registration remains open for the National Training Stage in Volleyball Statistics, better known simply as Data Volley. It is a two day course designed to sharpen the analytical side of the game, something that has become almost as important as tactics on the court in modern volleyball.
The sessions will run on 18 and 19 July 2026 at the Fecavolley headquarters in Dragage, Yaoundé.
Leading the training will be two well credentialed figures in Cameroonian volleyball circles. Mayam Blaise Reniof, an FIVB Level II instructor who also holds a postgraduate qualification in high level sports coaching, will guide participants through the finer points of the discipline. Alongside him is Dena Balafar Ismael, an FIVB Level III coach who works as a scout and statistician and also teaches physical education, bringing a rare mix of academic grounding and hands on scouting experience to the room.
For coaches who have long relied on instinct and match notes scribbled on the sideline, this is a chance to add something sharper to the toolkit. Data Volley 4, the software at the centre of the course, has become a standard reference point in high-performance volleyball, and getting properly trained on it puts Cameroonian coaches on more even footing with counterparts across Africa and beyond. In a sport where fine margins decide matches, being able to read a spike efficiency chart or a reception percentage in real time is no longer a luxury. It is fast becoming part of the job.
Participation does come with a few requirements. Anyone hoping to take part needs to be a working coach or trainer, bring a laptop of their own or share one between two participants, and provide a photocopy of their national identity card. There is also a participation fee of 25,000 FCFA.

It is a modest two days on paper, but the ripple effect could run much deeper. Better-trained analysts on the bench often mean sharper decisions during matches.
